New tram for EXPO 2016 in Antalya

The preparations for the international exhibition EXPO 2016 in Antalya is almost completed. The grand opening ceremony will be held on April 22, 2016.
One of the additional project for the preperation of the EXPO 2016 in Antalya was the construction of the new tram route City Center - Airport - Expo. 
 
On April 2, the first tram tested the new built railways. On April 4, the railway company AntRay received 2 new trams (Hyundai), which are going to go from Antalya Center to the EXPO. 18 new trams will be in use before the end of the year.
 

Visa-free travel for Turkish citizens into the EU's Schengen zone

Turkish citizens will be allowed visa-free access to continental Europe as part of a deal which could see the country join the EU in exchange for helping with the migrant crisis.
 
EU leaders signed a deal meaning that Ankara will take back deported migrants from European countries in exchange for visa restrictions to be lifted.
 
For visa-free visits to European countries in the Schengen zone, Turkish citizens will need to replace their current passports. The new ones will contain biometric data of the owner, including fingerprints.
Visa-free travel provides the opportunity for turkish citizens to access the Schengen zone up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
 

Alanya will get solar energy

On April 4th, the head of Alanya Municipality has signed together with the electric company Akdeniz Elektrik (CLK) the protocol, allowing the start of the work on the construction of solar power plants (Gunes Enerji Santrali, GES).
For the construction of GES an area at the slopes of the Toros mountains above Alanya has been choosen. The construction is planned to be completed within 16 months.This will be the largest solar power plants in the Mediterranean region. (Information from the website of the Municipality of Alanya)

New Ikamet rules for foreigners

Since 01st April 2014, new rules for the granting residence permits for Turkey has come up. The biggest change is the requirement to submit documentation of health insurance in Turkey.
