"Showcase Law" in Alanya

With date of 03.01.2012 the new Regulation has started. The new "Showcase" in Alanya says that goods have to be presented behind glass. The new regulation is primarily to protect the goods from, for example excessive sun exposure during the summer months. Also with regard to saving energy the law makes sense.

Also, bread boxes, beverage coolers and newspaper stands are affected by the new law; these cannot be presented in front of the shops anymore.

 

 

Alanya receives a ropeway

Following the successfull application for a ropeway from the Cleopatra beach to the Castle Hill, the project has been approved. The Turkish Memorial Authority has approved the project and does not see any risk for the UNESCO world cultural heritage. A model of the proposed ropeway was already introduced in Alanya. The construction begins in March of this year.

 

 

 

Mediterranean Games in Mersin

This year, Mersin has the honor to be the venue for the Mediterranean Games, and to organize the event. The major sporting event, attended by the nations bordering the Mediterranean Sea, goes back to an idea of the Egyptian Muhammed Taher Pasha, and took place first time in 1951. Since 1993, they take place always always one year after the Summer Olympic Games. In 2009 the Games were held in Italy.

Participating countries are: Italy, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Spain, Turkey, Albania, Andorra, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Greece, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon , Syria

In connection with the Mediterranean Games it is also planned to build a new airport in Mersin. This would shorten the travel time to Silifke, Tasucu or Anamur.

 

 

Compulsory health insurance for foreigners

Retroactive to 01/01/2012 a law to compulsory health insurance for foreigners has been signed. According to this law, foreigners must now prove a health insurance for their residence permitt. This evidence should be shown to the local SGK office. If you have a foreign health insurance, this is also valid. These must be shown to the competent SGK office in the city you are registered. If you don't have any health insurance in your home country, you must get a civil medical insurance in Turkey.
