After initial negotiations an agreement on visa exemption for Turkish citizens within the EU can be reached in the next years. First, Turkey must fulfill a number of conditions.

Among other things, Turkey has to agree to resume illegal immigrants who have entered the EU through Turkey. Commonly, this is one of the most important prerequisites for a future visa freedom.

Professionals they consider it can be possible that travelling without VISA could be realized perhaps in 2017 or 2018, if the difficult discussions are going well in the next years.

If everything goes in line with the Action Plan and the subsequent negotiations, the Commission will submit the VISA requirements to the Council. After consultation the decision has to be done by the European Parliament.
